Welcome to the JoCoIHN family. Welcome home.

“When I tell people I was in a homeless shelter, I say it was the greatest experience of my life and I would do it a thousand more times.” – Desiree, graduate

Johnson County Interfaith Hospitality Network

When you volunteer with JoCoIHN, you’ll not only meet the people you’re helping; you will hear their stories, witness their determination and see their pride as they learn to budget, save and lift themselves up.

You’ll discover firsthand that situational homelessness can happen to anyone. Great people. Smart people. These are the kind of people you want to help. Become their family. Help us make our guests feel at home while giving them a hand up and out of homelessness.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Hosting our guests, making meals and/or staying overnight
  • Staffing our front desk
  • Driving our guest van
  • Repairing cars
  • Handyman work
  • Data entry

We ask that all volunteers attend a two-hour training session. JoCoIHN holds these during odd numbered months, usually on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 am. or a weekday evening 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Our next Volunteer Training will be Saturday morning, May 6th from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 15915 West 143rd Street in Olathe, will be the host. Please remind everyone attending that they must be present for the ENTIRE training to be considered a trained volunteer.

For more information, please contact JoCoIHN Executive Director Vicki L. Dercher at 913-345-2121.

Whether you donate, volunteer or both, we are truly grateful for your support.
